How Do I Become a Registered Professional Secretary?
You must have administrative work experience and pass an examination in order to become a Registered Professional Secretary. The AAPM specifies that all work experience must be from the past three years. The minimum amount of experience required depends on your level of education; to be eligible to take the RPS examination, you must have completed:
- Four years of administrative experience if you do not have a college degree / diploma
- Three years of experience if you have a Diploma associated with secretarial management
- Two years of experience if you have a Bachelor’s degree
HOW TO APPLY: To qualify for the Registered Professional Secretary ™ (RPS) certification, you need to complete the following steps:
- Complete the Mandatory Candidate Information (MCI)
- Complete the payment upon receipt of the invoice
- Take the exam when you’re ready
Examination: email to request the examination questions when you are ready to take the exam. Examination comprised of 50 questions; Passing grade is 70%.
